When Ward Cunningham put up the first wiki in 1995, then called WikiWikiWeb, he did it under the philosophy of "People Projects and Patterns" with the belief that "patterns spread from person to person as they work together on projects." OpenUru.org would like to attempt a similar philosophy, albeit on this smaller scale and with existing tools. Or as OpenUru.org's simple home page says, we are here to "provide a venue with resources for a diverse community of projects to encourage a cooperative environment for the exploration, development and exchange of ideas in Cyan Worlds' Myst universe and Open Source Uru."

To avoid false expectations, an explanation of what OpenUru.org is, and what it is not:

What OpenUru.org is

OpenUru.org is a fan site that provides a venue with resources for a diverse community of projects to encourage a cooperative environment for the exploration, development and exchange of ideas in Cyan Worlds' Myst universe and Open Source Uru. Like the intentions of Cyan Worlds' decision to open the Uru source code, the direction OpenUru.org takes, and what it will offer, depends on the needs of the projects which choose to use it. OpenUru.org currently hosts project forums, where each project may have and control its own section and this Wiki for project use. Subdomains are also available to host approved project websites under the OpenUru.org domain.

What OpenUru.org is not

OpenUru.org is NOT affiliated in any way with Cyan Worlds, Inc.
