Additional Notes:
Missing DLL for DirectX reported when launching the client

Problem Description

After the patcher (Urulauncher.exe) runs, the client (Uruexplorer.exe) terminates showing a dialog box with the following error message:

UruExplorer.exe - Unable To Locate Component

This application has failed to start because d3dx9_27.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

This has been observed on Windows XP, SP3 where the machine had an existing DirectX 9.0c installation that was working with MOULagain and Magiquest Online.

Resolution

Some older "redistribution" versions of DirectX 9.0c (e.g. those sometimes supplied packaged with commercial games) do not seem to install all the DLLs that are expected by the currently downloadable DirectX 9 SDK.

Ensure that you have installed the latest version of the DirectX End User Runtime applicable to your Operating System.[1] For machines currently running DirectX 9.0c that encounter this error, use the Microsoft DirectX Web Installer[2] to update your DirectX installation.

Note that "faulty" installations are not identifiable by version number in DxDiag: In the observed case, the DirectX version was reported as "DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)" both before and after update.
