This template creates a banner indicating that the page is protected against edits.
Note: Do not use this as a "bluff". Only include this template on pages that are protected.
Usage
{{protected}}
This should normally be placed at the top of the page, preferably before the Table of Contents if present (use the __TOC__ or __NOTOC__ magic words on the following line if necessary). However, when used on sub-documents beginning with a heading, the template should be inserted immediately after the heading to ensure that the banner is included within the edit link of the heading:
=== Heading 3 === {{protected}}
On very long documents, it is also advisable to include the template at the bottom of the document too, but in this case add commentary to help ensure that both templates are removed if protection is removed at a later date, eg:
{{protected}} <!-- duplicated at bottom --> __TOC__ ... ... ... {{protected}} <!-- duplicated at top -->
